Top Star Entertainment was founded by Willie Peña, who is bi-lingual (Spanish and English) and who has been a Disc Jockey for the past 15 years. Willie started by doing small local parties in his native New Jersey and further built up his reputation and skills while attending college in Boston. In 1992 Willie moved to Miami, where he quickly found work in the South Beach club scene and also began doing private parties ranging from wedding and corporate events to birthdays, school Proms, Homecomings, Sweet Sixteens, and holiday parties. Over the years he has mastered the art of beat-mixing, whether on vinyl records, CDs, or even his laptop. He has performed for many different ethnic groups, and because he is bi-lingual and has a massive Latin Music collection he is especially strong for Hispanic audiences. Now, after hundreds of private events, thousands of nightclub performances, and stints on three different cruise lines, he has moved his operations to serve the Central Florida area. He has recently become one of the select few approved by The World’s Largest Theme Park* for work in all areas of the resort, from its many nightclubs to its weddings and conventions. *Hint: There’s a famous Mouse involved, but they prefer we don’t use in any advertising! Following is a brief resume of some of Willie's notable engagements from earlier to more recent: April-June 1996 – Carnival Cruise Lines (Alaska) Worked aboard the MV Tropicale, on the Alaska run. DJ’d seven nights a week to diverse crowds, playing all styles of music to international audience. Hosted the weekly Single’s Party, which was videotaped and displayed on the ship’ and made part of passenger souvenir videos. September 1996 – June 1997 Discovery Cruise Lines (Miami and Ft. Lauderdale) Worked aboard the MVs Discovery Sun and Discovery Dawn 3-4 nights per week, entertaining passengers on the nightly “Cruises to Nowhere”, playing a diverse blend of Latin, Reggae, Haitian, Dance, Disco and Hip-Hop. Continues to perform annually at Discovery's New Year's Eve Extravangaza cruise for over 1,000 guests. June 1997 – December 2000 SeaEscape Cruise Lines (Ft. Lauderdale) Worked aboard the MV Island Adventure 3-5 nights a week, both in the main Disco and the Pool Deck. Played a very diverse mix, including Techno, House, Disco, Retro, Salsa, Merengue, Rap, Rock and Roll, Calypso, etc. Hosted nightly “Sail-away” parties (line dances, games) and the twice-weekly Single’s Party. October 2000 – March 2002 Mobile Music Entertainment (Dade and Broward and Palm Beach Counties) Number 2 DJ (Number 1 was the owner!) for a multi-system DJ Company. Performed at countless weddings, corporate parties, picnics, Karaoke parties, quinceañeras, school dances, house parties, children’s parties, etc. December 2000 - March 2001 Level Nightclub (Miami Beach) Thursday “Couture” nights. Played House/International music in the Red Room as Guest DJ. April – July 2001 Touch Restaurant (Miami Beach) Played dinner and party music to upscale clientele in exclusive restaurant/nightclub 2-3 nights per week. June 2001 – March 2002 Illusions Banquet Hall (Miami) Performed at numerous weddings, baby showers, bridal showers, quinceañeras, etc. 3-4 times per month for a predominantly Latin audience. January 2002 – March 2002 Bolero Restaurant (Miami Beach) Resident DJ at this upscale restaurant/nightclub. Played dinner music (Acid Jazz, Bossanova) for diners, and then Dance, House, Latin, Arabic, Hip-hop and more for the dancing portion of the evening, 3 nights per week. March 2002 – Present After relocating to Central Florida, has already garnered a reputation as one of the Orlando area's best DJs, bringing a dynamic blend of fantastic music and technical skill to the region.
