 I can provide you with appropriate music for all of the above times in your ceremony.A private consultation with the bride, fiance or mother of the bride and harpist is included in the price of the ceremony to choose specific music for your special day. I can accommodate almost every special request. While most traditional wedding music sounds lovely on the harp, there is also a large amount of music specifically written for harp that is appropriate for weddings. The harp's exquisite sound can range from ethereal and delicate to festive and triumphant, making it flexible enough to enhance every aspect of the ceremony. Whether you plan on having a traditional ceremony in a religious setting or an intimate service in a private home or non-traditional setting, the harp is an elegant and sophisticated option. Marguerite Lynn Williams holds a Masters of Music degree from the Chicago College of Performing Arts (Roosevelt University) along with both a Bachelor of Music and Performer's Certificate from the Eastman School of Music. She has studied with Sarah Bullen, principal harp of the Chicago Symphony Orchestra, Kathleen Bride, professor of harp at the Eastman School of Music, and Ursula Kwasnicka, principal harp of the Syracuse Symphony Orchestra. An active solo, chamber, and orchestral musician, Marguerite Lynn Williams performs regularly across North America, Europe, and Asia. She has toured Russia, Armenia, Japan, Taiwan, Germany, and the United States with various performing ensembles. She has worked under the batons of Pierre Boulez, Yuri Timernakov, Parvo Jaarvi, Robert Shaw, Yoel Levi, Ehji Oheu, Arnold Katz, John Williams, Donald Hunsberger, Valery Gergiev as well as many other distinguished conductors. Williams is the recipient of numerous local and national awards given by the American Harp Society, the National Federation of Music Clubs, the Evanston Music Club, the American Opera Society, the North Shore Musicians' Club, the Atlanta Symphony Orchestra, and the Atlanta Pops Orchestra. Williams has also been a participant in master classes given by Kathleen Bride, Sarah Bullen, Marie Claire Langlemette, Jana Bouskova, and Xavier DiMeister. Along with a busy performance schedule, she participates in the Civic Orchestra of Chicago’s MusiCorps Program. She serves as a mentor to students in the Chicago area and also presents lecture demonstrations at schools, nursing homes and community centers. Currently she is principal harpist with the Classical Symphony Orchestra (Chicago), Southwest Symphony Orchestra (Palos Heights) and New Philharmonic Orchestra (Naperville). She is also a member of the Civic Orchestra of Chicago, and New World Symphony (Miami, FL) along with being a substitute with the Chicago Symphony Orchestra, Ravinia Festival Orchestra, and Green Bay Symphony. Mostly recently she was a finalist for the New York City Opera Harp position. Williams has recorded independently as well as with Sony in various formats including two solo harp recordings. Adjunct Harp Professor at Carthage College (Kenosha, WI), she also serves as the harp coach for the Chicago Youth Concert Orchestra, chamber music coach for the Chicago Youth Symphony Orchestra, and teaches privately.
